Global Trade Compliance Specialist

The primary objective of this position is to ensure the company is compliant with U.S. and other countries' government trade compliance regulations. This is accomplished by performing transactional processes and implementing improvement projects. A thorough understanding of trade compliance regulations and software systems including the ability to perform Restricted Party Screening, embargo hold management, export licensing management, ECCN analysis, supplier solicitation campaigns, country of origin determinations, Free Trade Agreement qualification analysis, and generating documentation for shipments is required. The position is responsible for interpretation of U.S. Export Controls regulations, including OFAC and BIS sanctions as well as for the free trade agreement qualification of Solar parts and products to ensure compliance with U.S. and foreign FTA regulations.

Responsibilities/Unique Qualifications
  • Russian sanctions management, including Russian company ownership structure reviews, Russian transaction reviews, order hold maintenance and releases
  • Other country sanctions monitoring and management
  • Perform RPS screening in Trade Automation (trade compliance software system)
  • Process U.S. export licenses
  • Solicit vendors for FTA and country of origin qualification
  • Qualify Solar manufactured commodities for various FTAs
  • Produce preferential and non-preferential Certificates of Origin
  • Assist with Customs Compliance and related complianceassessments of global Solar facilities
  • Support the department and global Solar offices with U.S. Export Controls issues
  • Interpret U.S. Export Controls regulations
  • Assist with special projects
  • Review, analyze and organize large amounts of data


Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient knowledge of U.S. Export regulations (EAR, ITAR, OFAC), as well as U.S. Customs regulations, HTSUS and FTA regulations.
  • Excellent understanding of Other Government Agency regulations as related to the relevant GTC area (classification, import, export and FTAs).
  • Four-year degree in a related discipline (e.g. Business Administration, Supply Chain, International Management) or equivalent foreign degree.
  • Trade compliance industry experience (5-7 years).
  • Proficient knowledge of Trade Compliance Software systems.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Current certifications and/or credentials in trade compliance.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, sound decision making skills and proactive problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within a diverse group environment.
