Spirent is looking for a qualified person to participate in our Global Trade Compliance expansion program. The Global Trade Compliance Specialist I is a non-manager direct report position to the Director, Global Trade Compliance. You are a Global Trade expert who will have to meet daily operational tasks to meet measured deadlines. You will apply your experience and knowledge in international trade so Spirent products cross borders compliantly. You will collaborate with Spirent local departments, U.S. offices, global business units, customers and service providers to provide information on trade compliance elements for international transactions. This position contributes approximately 70% to export and 30% to import compliance for Spirent divisions.


Responsibilities/Unique Qualifications
  • Requires skills in writing procedures for the Global Trade Compliance Manual
  • Validates documentation is prepared correctly to ensure there is no disruption in global shipments
  • Prior to export, judges whether a shipment process has been followed and it is a compliant shipment by collaborating directly with Operations, Sales Admin and Logistics
  • Classifies products for imports and records in centralized repository
  • Reviews Trade Denial Screening (Restricted Parties screening)
  • Automated Export System (AES)- Electronic Export Information (EEI) Filing
  • Maintains Packaging log in a timely manner to meet Operations and Logistics deadlines
  • Reviews and approves Customs Broker and Carrier invoices
  • Work directly with contract manufacturer to support imports to USA and abroad and special country specific Customs programs
  • Main contributor to responding on-time to the Global Trade Compliance Email box
  • Maintain 3rd Party vendor shipment details, tracking and analysis
  • Special Compliance projects as request from Director, Global Trade Compliance

Requirements
  • Minimum five plus years of actual, tactical experience in a dynamic Global Trade environment with a strong emphasis on Customs Compliance.
  • Practical hands on experience and knowledge of government regulations: HTSUS, Title 19 CFR, (15CFR) EAR, (FTR) Foreign Trade Regulations;
  • BA Degree not necessary. Extensive work experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description would be considered.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of PC based systems, Microsoft Word, PPT and Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail, proficient electronic record retention and database maintenance skills
  • Telecommunications and/or Electronics Industry experience
