The Export Compliance Officer (ECO) is responsible for designing, developing, executing, and managing an effective export control program on a global level. This position reports to the VP of Operations. The ECO serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external inquiries regarding export and economic sanctions compliance and works to drive trade compliance initiatives and execute strategic direction and global management of all aspects of Autodesk's trade compliance program.


Responsibilities/Unique Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage an effective Export Compliance Program under applicable laws and regulations, including the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and applicable international laws and regulations
  • Manage Autodesk's Global Export Compliance team
  • Provide expert advice and guidance concerning the requirements and obligations for handling export-controlled software, items and technology under applicable laws and regulations
  • Develop and document export compliance standard operating procedures
  • Provide general and role-specific export compliance training
  • Make jurisdiction and classification determinations and document classification audit trail
  • Prepare export license applications and manage export licenses and license exceptions
  • Monitor the export and import of technical data, hardware, and services in accordance with company policy and U.S. Government export laws and regulations
  • Collaborates with Legal team on all inquiries from government agencies and officials on export issues
  • Conduct program self-assessments and participate in internal and government compliance audits
  • Participate in legal reviews of commercial contracts for procurement of goods and services
  • Participate in the export compliance review of potential targets for acquisition or merger
  • Travel 10-20%

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10 years U.S. Export trade experience
  • Experienced people manager of a compliance organization
  • Thorough knowledge of trade compliance regulations, including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
  • Extensive understanding of export, re-export and deemed licensing requirements applicable to software, cloud products, and encryption
  • Experience with implementing and working with Global Trade Management software
  • Ability to manage and strategically integrate regulatory requirements into business processes to maximize outcomes
  • Excellent knowledge of software and encryption classification
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Applications, Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information frequently and appropriately
